You can now download traditional Scottish folk tales, told by local storytellers, from our website.
The first 15 included Bolinn, Torrvald, Aberfoyle, Balnagowan Wilderness Camp and Lamington Camp, Bennachie, Cochno Sheiling, Culbin, Dog Falls and Dalmochie sites.
More stories are now available including Loch Coille Bhar Mill, Tentsmuir, Bonawe, Newe's Craig , Blairadam, Rogie, Kilmory Oib, West Otter Ferry and Dunardry .

Historic images of the construction of World War II defences on the Moray coast.
Over the past month we have added over a 100 new images to the website and there is more to come.
Check out at Roseisle for images donated by Katie Brown, showing her father constructing anti-tank blocks along the Moray Coast. during WWII

Wilsontown event filmed by South Lanarkshire TV.
In July Forest Heritage Scotland's Wilsontown event featured on South Lanarkshire TV's online feature "In Focus".
the tv crew followed the Walking Theatre Company as the explored the history of the site with event particpants.

NEW PHOTOGRAPHS! Inchindown storage tank photograph survey by RCAHMS
Up on our site you can view a selection of the best images taken of inside the World War II fuel tanks at Inchindown. The Royal Commission of Ancient and Historical Monuments (RCAHMS) recorded the tanks during our Doors Open Day event back in September.
There is also an audio download of RCAHMS expert Allan Kilpatrick exploring the tunnels for Highland Archaeology Festival. Available on the Inchindown pages.
This week one of the images is the subject for the Big Picture feature on BBC Scotland news' website.

Wilsontown Ironworks Postcard Appeal
Wilsontown Ironwork's forest ranger is looking for people to contact them scottishlowlands@forestry.gsi.gov.uk to share their ancestral connections about Wilsontown.
Remember you can also do this through our Your Story option on the Wilsontown web page.
In return get a stamped postcard to send out to anywhere in the world.

Discover what life was like in the township of Rogie
Check out five new films uploaded on to the Rogie township page. These films were specially created for Forest Heritage Scotland, working with the Highland Folk Museum, at Newtonmore.
Each film investigates an aspect of rural like through the archaeological remains at Rogie.

Whisky Month!
May is Homecoming Scotland's official whisky month and we have two events to join in the celebrations.
Discover the story of the Highland whisky smugglers in the Highlands of Scotland with the Walking Theatre Company at Balmacara fair on Saturday 9th May.
Join in our walk as part of the Glen Affric Walking Festival and explore the hidden remains of Dog Falls illicit whisky still on Friday the 29th of May.

New aerial photographs of Wilsontown Ironwork's bell pit mines.
In 2008 Forestry Commission Scotland carefully revealed the coal mines, that supplied the ironworks, by clearing the trees using helicopters.
In February 2009 RCAHMS, who hold and create Scotland's national collection of aerial photograph, flew over Wilsontown and photographed it.

The BBC's digital Gaelic TV channel featured an interview on the An La news programme with Fiona and Brian from Forestry Commission Scotland at Rogie, a deserted settlement only 45 minutes from Inverness.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be continuing our research, updating this website, and by the end of March 2009, we will have around 60 locations featured, alongside additional topics and events.
